Cher Smith

Bugtussle Farm is a regenerative family farm and homestead located in the hills of south-central Kentucky. We raise cows and sheep, lots of produce, herbs, and flowers, as well as a variety of dye plants for creating beautiful color on our farm fiber, which comes from our flock of Shetland sheep. I am a knitter, spinner, and natural dyer, and have a particular affinity for making colorful, hand-knit hats!

Cher’s Workshop

Strengthening Our Fiber Community:
Identifying and Addressing Local Needs in Fiber Production

Join Cher Smith of Bugtussle Farm, Robin Verson from Hill and Hollow Farm, and Debbie Brann of River Cottage Farm, as they share their stories of developing farm fiber products while protecting our natural resources using regenerative practices in fiber production.

This session encourages everyone interested in all aspects of the local fiber community to share their perspectives on the current state of fiber production in the community. However you engage in the fiber community as a shepherd, dyer, spinner, weaver, designer or the wearer of locally sourced, sustainably raised clothing, this session will leave you inspired to build a resilient local fiber economy.
